FIFA Ranking: Nigeria move up to third in Africa

Nigeria climbed up four places in the latest FIFA ranking and moved to third in Africa only behind AFCON winners Senegal and quarter-finalist Morocco.

The official FIFA ranking of national teams which was published on Thursday, saw Nigeria jump from 36th in the world to 32nd.
Nigeria’s rise is unconnected with the Country’s performance at the AFCON 2021 as well as the fortunes of Algeria and Tunisia in the tournament.
The Super Eagles won all three of their group stage games in Cameroon but were eliminated in the round of 16 by the Carthage Eagles.
Egypt, Tunisia, Cameroon, Algeria, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire and Burkina Faso make up the top 10.
Meanwhile, Gambia are the biggest movers in Africa, they climbed to 125th – 25 places – in the world gaining 85.44 points.
In the world ranking Belgium are still top of the standings while Brazil, France, England, Argentina, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Denmark and the Netherlands make up the top 10.
