Center Back, Jordan Torunarigha has reportedly been granted permission by FIFA to switch his nationality and represent Nigeria in international football.

Torunarigha, 26, who plays for KAA Gent in Belgium, was born to Nigerian parents but had previously represented Germany at various youth levels.

The defender had declined the opportunity to play for Nigeria back in May 2018, however, he recently recinded that decision and applied to the Players’ Status Chamber of FIFA for the switch.

On Monday, it was confirmed that the World Governing body’s Committee has now officially approved his request to play for the Super Eagles.

With this approval, Torunarigha might be included in Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe.

Last season, he made 34 league appearances for KAA Gent and scored three goals.
