Bendel Insurance secured their passage through to the Federation cup round of 32 by beating ABS of Ilorin 0-1, on Wednesday, in Lagos.

Insurance scored the solitary goal in the first half and closed out the game with little to worry about as ABS struggled to create any extended spells, and carved too little chances to even get shots away.

Coach Monday Odigie was appreciative of his boys, however stormed down the tunnel after he expressed his annoyance to the boys on the bench, an evidence to the fact that he was livid with the team’s performance in the second half.

“I want to thank the boys for being able to get the goal, however, we were a little bit disjointed with the way we were playing, but we thank God we got the win, we will go back to work on our mistakes.”

Coach Monday Odigie was animated on the touchline in the course of the game, and he explained why.

“It was about the attitude, you cannot play a game like this and stay laid back, the team you’re playing against believe there is only one chance for them and this is the chance.

“So you need to come back and be the team you are, that means you have to work and fight for every ball, that’s why because we were too lackadaisical in the first half, that is why I talked to them that way,” Odigie told FL.
