FC Ifeanyiubah only need to win their final game of the regular season at home against already-qualified Akwa United on Sunday to qualify for the NPFL championship playoffs after they stunned hosts El Kanemi Warriors 1-0 in Maiduguri today.
‘The Anambra Warriors’ have now leapfrogged El Kanemi into third place in Group B with 33 points, while their closest rivals dropped to fourth on 30 points.
Kano Pillars booked their place in the Super 6, which will produce the league champions and runners-up to represent Nigeria at next year’s CAF Champions League, after a 3-0 spanking of Delta Force.
Pillars now have 37 points from 21 matches, a point behind leaders Akwa United, who forced a 2-2 draw at home with Abia Warriors.
The final playoff spot in Group A will go down to the wire on Sunday after third-placed Enyimba and MFM FC, who are fourth on the table, both won at home today.
Enyimba stopped Niger Tornadoes 2-0, while MFM FC beat Katsina United 2-1 at the death.
On the final day of the regular season, Enyimba will be guests of Katsina United and MFM FC visit Sunshine Stars.
