Everton midfielder, Alex Iwobi has revealed the woes behind the failed move of English forward Dele Alli.

After joining Everton from Tottenham Hotspurs, Alli appeared in only 13 matches for the Toffees, failing to score or record an assist before being sent on a temporary contract to Besiktas last summer.

The forward had a difficult time with the Toffees before joining the Turkish club last summer.

He is presently recovering from surgery on an existing procedure after his loan deal to Besiktas went rather downhill.

“With him (Alli), he will say it himself, he isn’t a training player. Unless it’s a match in training and then you see Dele perform,” Iwobi said in a podcast with FilthyFellas.

“When it comes to training matches, he is a joke. When it comes to drills – he tries, but because he’s slow with it. When it comes to games, he will score and assist or something.”

“It was hard for him to play. If you’re not just doing it in training, and at the time, the manager needed reliable players.

“He (Lampard) couldn’t really put his trust in him. We all know Dele could have performed,” added Iwobi.

Dele Alli, is undoubtedly talented, but rather sadly, has witnessed a sloppy decline in what looks more of a psychological problem, than in his ability, which by the way, is unquestionable.

The situation might get worse for him as Everton are obliged to pay Tottenham Hotspur that is if he makes 20 appearances for them.
