Super Eagles forward Alex Iwobi was introduced in the second half of Arsenal’s 2-0 first leg victory in the Europa league over Napoli at the Emirates on Thursday.
The Gunners went into the quarter final tie with the Italian team at the back of their 1-0 disappointing loss to Everton last weekend and the Unai Emery produced a perfect response to be in control of the tie ahead of next week’s return leg in Naples.
Arsenal’s goals were scored in the first half with Aaron Ramsey drawing the first blood in the 14th minute, which was followed up 10 minutes later by an own goal from Kalidou Koulibaly after he got in the way of Lucas Torreira’s off-target shot.
Iwobi came on in 67th minute for French striker Alexandre Lacazette and was penalised for pushing Elseid Hysaj in the 80th minute by Spanish referee Alberto Undiano .
Arsenal had chances to score the third and effectively kill off the tie but were guilty of missing big chances.
