Europa League: Boniface’s Royal Union finish top despite home defeat to Union Berlin

Victor Boniface started Royal Union Saint-Gilloise’s Europa League matchday 6 fixture against Union Berlin off the bench.

Boniface had 3 goals in 5 appearances for Royal Union heading into the final round of games in the competition.

The match was also a dead rubber for the Belgian side as they had already confirmed top spot in group D.

However for Union Berlin a win will confirm their playoff spot and they produced the win to take them through the first round.

Sven Michel’s 6th minute goal decided the encounter and sealed second place for the German club.
