Nigerian striker, Victor Boniface grabbed another goal on a European night when Union SG battled the much improved Bayer Leverkusen on Thursday night in the UEFA Europa League, at the Bay Arena.

Boniface gave the German defence a lot to think about by almost single-handedly dragging his team across the 90minutes with a win on the road.

However, the Belgian outfit, who are having a fairytale run in this season’s Europa League, would eventually be undone late in the game.

The Nigerian’s goal tally for the Europa League rose to six when he connected with the ball inside the penalty area and drilled it into the bottom right corner to break the deadlock.

The joy was however shortlived as Sardar Azmoun soon provided a pass to German forward Florian Wirtz who slammed home an incredible shot to equalize in the 82nd minute, and tie the game at 1-1 eventually.

Victor Boniface could go on to add more goals, and build some lead in the topscorer’s race, when the sides return for the second leg in Belgium next week.
