Stoke City of England midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo has revealed that one of the motivating factors behind his decision to sponsor a charity foundation is that he remembers how he was often sent home from school because his parents could not pay his school fees.
While pointing out that he shares the sad plight of a Delta State female pupil, Success, whose story recently went viral on social media, after she revealed the pain she is going through over unpaid school fees, Etebo revealed that was once in the kid’s shoes.
Etebo said he has to remain grateful to God for the turnaround of his life and footballlive.ng can report that he wants to keep giving back to the community that produced him and to humanity at large.
While stressing it the major reason why he floated Etebo Oghenekaro Peter Foundation, the Super Eagles star urged other Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of giving to the needy and rendering assistance to society.
Etebo empathized, saying: “I know how it feels, particularly when you see other students who have paid.
“The amazing thing is that the little girl preferred to be beaten in order to stay back in school and study.
“I remember when myself and my sister were sent home due to the fact that our parents didn’t have the capacity to pay.”
