Etafia Exposes Mamelodi Sundowns’ Tactics, Injuries

Date:

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Greg Etafia has provided useful tips that could help Lobi Stars of Makurdi in their CAF Champions League opening group match against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

Having played extensively against Sundowns during his days with their South African Premier Soccer League rivals, Moroka Swallows, and now goalkeepers’ trainer at Highlands Park, Etafia knows The Brazilians well.

Consequently, footballlive.ng gathered that Etafia has readily provided Lobi Stars with detailed information on the tactics they should expect against Sundowns at Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on January 13.

Etafia, who has also worked Cape Town Stars and Baroka United in The Rainbow Nation, while also serving as a television analyst, added that Mamelodi Sundowns are currently riddled with injury problems.

Having won the Nigerian league with Lobi Stars in 1999 before moving to South Africa in 2003, the former Plateau United shot-stopper feels duty bound to assist his former club with useful information to aid their run.

“(Mamelodi Sundowns) are a top club with a lot of financial muscle. They are a team who like to attack both at home and away, but currently they are suffering a lot of injuries.

“They are likely to boost the team with few new signings in this transfer window,” Etafia concluded.
