Enyimba FC defender Ifeanyi Anaemena is optimistic the team will prevail over Rahimo FC in the return leg of their CAF Champions League preliminary round, regardless of the home side prosecuting the must-win match behind closed doors.
Anaemena was an unused substitute in the 6-1 win over amateur side Destiny FC in a friendly at the Enyimba Stadium.
The top scoring defender in the NPFL last season, Anaemena, says the game against Rahimo FC in Aba will definitely be tough without the backing of the twelfth man.
“It is going to be a tough game for us because we (Enyimba) have not played behind closed doors before and this being the first time, I know it is going to be hectic and our fans cheering us up has been a big boost for us while playing,” the defender told Rhema FM.
“So without the fans it is going to be kinda tough for us but I known God’s grace we are going to push harder to make sure we qualify to the next round.”
On Enyimba winning all their friendlies ahead of Rahimo’s visit, he insists though they weren’t competitive games, the positive results recorded will raise the players’ confidence.
Enyimba FC lost 1-0 to Rahimo FC a fortnight ago in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
The return leg takes place behind closed doors at the Enyimba International Stadium on Sunday 25 August 2019, kickoff is at 4:00 pm.
