Coach of recently crowned league champion Enyimba FC Usman Abd’Allah has accepted defeat in good faith following the team’s 3-2 surprise defeat to non league side Smart FC of Lagos in one of the Federation cup round of 32 games played yesterday.
Abd’Allah speaking in a chat with www.brila.net was gracious in defeat and hailed the Smart city team for picking the unlikeliest of win to progress at the expense of Enyimba. Abdallah also said the Federation cup really wasn’t a priority for the People’s Elephants after winning the league and a busy schedule for his side seems to have taken it toll on the team.
“The Aiteo cup is not part of our goal, and I think my boys need to go and rest and start preparing for next season. I think the boys need more rest and beside I didn’t even come out with full strength team because we needed to also give room for some fringe players to play. The smart city team is good, played well and deserved their victory so congratulations to them.”
