Former Super Eagles defender, Abbey George has stressed that it is still earlier to regard England as favorites for the World Cup trophy in Qatar.

George argued that England are contenders in their own rights, but he doesn’t think they’re one of the favorites, at least, not until they play the big names in the competition.

He suggested that the performance they put up against Iran is not enough for him to judge them.

‘England were expected to beat Iran and rightfully so, considering that the opponent are minnows compared to the Three Lions.’

The Former Nigerian DF however, admitted that the Three Lions have a good squad that could push them to the title, ‘they have the squad depth and that quality can carry them all the way.’

He further explained that the team has players, who are worth a hundred million pounds on the bench, but it remains to be seen if they can really do the business on the pitch of play.
