Two half goals from the Netherlands decided the contest against Nigeria in the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup quarter-final match at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto on Sunday.
An 11th minute wonder strike from Zera Hulswit was followed up in the 33rd minute by Ziva Henry to knock Nigeria out of the tournament.
The Nigerian girls came into the game as favorites following their impressive group phase campaign, where they recorded wins against France, Korea Republic and Canada.
Undone by their profligacy, the team registered 11 shots on target from 24 shots in contrast, the Dutch team got off only 5 shots in the entire game.
The Netherlands progress to the semi-finals, an improvement from their only previous outing in the tournament when they were lost in the last eight.
