Salernitana lost a second successive game in the Serie A on Monday night as they lost 1-0 on the road against Verona.

The defeat follows the 3-0 bashing suffered at the hands of Juventus last week, compounding Salernitana’s problems as their form takes a further dip.

Sitting 16th on the Serie A table, David Nicola’s side are just four points off the relegation zone.

They have conceded 15goals in the last five games, in spite of reinforcements in the defence during the January transfer window.

One of the new signings, William Troost-Ekong started his third game for the side, but was hooked in the 83rd minute.

Ekong had 48 touches on the ball, 3 tackles attempted, 1 interception, 1 block and 5 aerial duels won.

However, in spite of the Nigeria’s ratings, Salernitana were sunk by the solitary goal of Cyril Ngonge in the 31st minute.

Ngonge’s volleyed strike came two minutes after his previous effort had been chalked off by VAR.

The visitors didn’t pose much threat despite seeing the lion share pf the possession, and would have themselves to blame for the defeat.

Meanwhile, they’ll return on Sunday, February 19, for a date at the Arechi Stadium against European football contending Lazio.
