The Nigeria U20 Men’s NT, Flying Eagles, is the most successful nation when it comes to the U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament set to kick off in two days time in Egypt.

The Flying Eagles will be aiming to win the tournament for a record-extending eighth time en route qualifying for the FIFA U20 World Cup tournament.

Meanwhile the team, led by head Coach Ladan have been handed a tough task in navigating a group that has the host nation Egypt, current CHAN champions Senegal and Mozambique.

Nigeria last won the tournament in 2015, when they defeated Senegal in the final, but the Country has fallen short in recent years.

Failed to qualify in 2017 and 2021, while finishing fourth in the 2019 edition hosted in Niger, to barely secure qualification to the 2019 World Cup; even there the team fell short in the round of 16 to Senegal after qualifying as one of the best third placed team.

This time it’s the same assignment for the Flying Eagles get past Senegal, Egypt and Mozambique, and secure a top two finish in other to avoid the ugly fight for the best third placed team.

They will face their first test against familiar foes, Senegal, on February 19, before taking on host nation Egypt on the 22nd and Mozambique next on the 25th.
