Rivers United technical Manager, Stanley Eguma has praised his team’s character after they scored a late equalizer to prevent Remo Stars from securing a stoppage-time winner.

Eguma also revealed that the team is prepared to defend their league title.

Despite scoring early through Nyima Nwangua, Remo Stars turned the game around from Adebayo Olamilekan’s second-half brace.

He scored his second goal in additional time, and it could have sealed the points for Remo Stars, but the defending Champions found the equalizer after the game restarted.

In a chat with FL, Stanley Eguma talked up his team’s chances and fired a warning to all comers, that Rivers United will not go out without a fight.

“It’s football and we don’t give up. If we had, we wouldn’t have been able to equalize,” remarked the Coach about the result of the game.

“So, we still had the hope that something would happen and it happened and that’s the spirit.

“We planned to get the three points and that’s why when we came here we swung into action and got our first goal.

“We were expecting the second goal but there were a lot of misses from the players, although misses are part of the game, but when Remo went ahead my boys showed character and equalized almost immediately.”

“We will have to prepare for the next game, the competition is still on.

“We are the defending champions; we want to defend our title; we aren’t pushovers, so we are confident that we can win it again.”
