The Nigerian Football Federation technical director, Austin Eguavoen says qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will ensure the Super Eagles make amends for the fiasco of Qatar 2022.

In an interview with Brila FM, Eguavoen says the Super Eagles sealing automatic qualification is the key objective, regardless of strength of the group.

“To win the group, nothing less than that, we have to make up for not qualifying for the last World Cup,” the former Super Eagles Coach stated.

“it’s an opportunity, one thing we have to understand is that there are no weak teams. Teams might be weak on paper, but football has changed.”

“I think we are ready, the boys, they know it, the Federation knows what it takes. Nigeria has what it takes both technically and everything, so, we are well prepared.

“The only thing on my mind is topping the group regardless of who we play against, we will play them with respect and go all out.”

Nigeria has been pitted in the same group as South Africa, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe, Rwanda and Lesotho.
