NFF Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen has told FL that the Federation will embark on a one-year grassroot scouting programme that aims to discover young talents as part of a broader football policy that seeks to create a pool for the various national teams.

Eguavoen revealed the proposal has been tabled before the NFF Board through the Technical Department.
He argues that the process will help fill the void created by the absence of organized School football events.
The NFF Director listed the four qualities the scouts will keenly observe as Speed, Technique, Strength and Skills.
However he did clarify that there will be very a lot less emphasis on Skills.
Initial period for the programme will be 12 months, but Eguavoen also foresees there might be challenges with the smooth operation.
The Super Eagles 2021 AFCON and 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers are commitments that will also require the Technical department’s attention.
