Derby County of England fringe player, Efe Ambrose appears finally on his way back to the Super Eagles, as his name has popped up among the lot who will get chances to prove their mettle in the Africa Cup of Nations’ build-up matches.

So soon after Ambrose spoke out that he is not a ‘former player’ of the Nigerian national team, footballive.ng can report that his voice has been heard by Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr.

This is sequel to a precise declaration by the Franco-German gaffer that Ambrose is under consideration for the Eagles’ upcoming test matches, along with the Germany-based duo of goalkeepers Maduka Okoye from Fortuna Düsseldorf and VfL Wolfsburg defender, Felix Uduokhai.

Okoye was invited for the Olympic Eagles’ Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya but his club stopped him from honouring the invitation, because he had just returned from a long-term injury, while Uduokhai is already a Germany under-21 international.

Bother Germany-born lads now have th e chance of committing their international future to Nigeria, while Ambrose could get a chance to revive his fading career, as Rohr said he will give opportunities to more Nigerian players plying their trade abroad.

Rohr expatiated: ”We are looking at Efe Ambrose, Maduka Okoye, Felix Uduokhai and a host of other players with a view to seeing them in the colours of Nigeria.
”If they perform better than those we already have, they have a better chance of being included in the final preparations.”
