John Ebuka Okoye hit his 11th league goal of the season this weekend, earning a point for Enppi SC in the Egypt Premier League match against Al Masry.
Ebuka returned after a two-game suspension for picking up a straight card in the trip to Misr Lel Makkasa.
The teams lost a player each and in spite of the sending off of the target man, Enppi SC still went on to win 2-0.
Yet, the next two games ended in defeats including the home game against Pharco, where the latter played with 10 men in the final nine minutes of regulation time.
His return was no doubt a big boost for Enppi, but they fell behind inside the opening four minutes.
Another Nigerian, Austin Amutu scored the game’s opener, putting Al Masry ahead in a clash between two mid table teams in the standings.
Enppi SC could have leveled before the interval, gifted the penalty luxury, but the chance was blown and it wasn’t until the hour mark that they’d find the equalizer.
John Okoye Ebuka was set up by Ali Fawzi – who had missed the PK – for Enppi SC to eventually snatch a point in the game.
The goal also moved the Nigerian to 4th in the race for the league’s golden shoe and only 2 goals behind leader, Zamalek’s Ahmed ‘Zizo’ who has 13 goals and 10 assists.
Enppi SC remain 12th on the log with five round of matches left in the season, but face the threat of being drawn into the relegation battle if they don’t get back to winning ways.
The side have picked just five points in as many games and will next travel to face relegation threatened Eastern Company in their next game.
