Tyronne Ebuehi hardly put a foot wrong on Monday night when Empoli hosted Lecce at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Ebuehi making his 17th appearance in Serie A this season, played the entire duration of the match as Empoli secured a narrow 1-0 victory before a modest crowd.

The match was decided by Francesco Caputo’s 62nd minute penalty and it helped the hosts snap a four-game losing streak in the league.

Truly, Empoli have been on a rough patch lately, Paolo Zanetti’s side were winless in 8 straight games stretching back to January.

However, Monday’s win further assures Gli Azzurri fans that their club will stay in the Serie A next season, with a total of 31 points amassed from 28 round of matches moving them to 14th spot on the table and further away from the drop zone.

Next for them is a trip to the San Siro to face AC Milan on Friday.
