Chelsea star, Rose Barkley has revealed he is in the best form of his life after delivering a display in the 5-1 England win over Montenegro.
The Chelsea midfielder Barkley has revealed why he is in scintillating form this season.
Barkley proved he is in the best form of his life after delivering his fine display in the 5-1 England win over Montenegro on Monday.
Speaking to the Sun football, the Chelsea midfielder divulged that his diet has been key to success this season among other adjustments in his life. He believes a new diet, eating more fish, is paying off.
He pointed out that he is more focused on being one of the best midfielders in the world despite being away from family.
“I am focused on improving at a day-to-day level. Hopefully, I will continue to thrive. Compared to when I was 18, 19 or 20, I would say my diet is the biggest change. It is much better.
“My approach to games is much better and I am going into matches with the right preparation and I am more relaxed rather than thinking about things too much.
He added: “I am away from my family and down in London by myself. I miss being with my family but you know, it is totally different. It is about how I have matured as a person and a player. It is good.”
“Since I made the move it was good to challenge myself and win trophies and to improve as a player. I will keep working hard and it will come,” Barkley concluded.
The Chelsea midfielder, Barkley stated that the competition around him is also a source of motivation for him to work harder.
“Declan Rice, Jadon Sancho and Callum Hudson-Odoi, you see how good they are. All week they have been frightening in training. The future’s very bright.
“We can all improve. We are not in the game to accept where we are at. We have to improve at club level — and at the international level there is a lot of room for improvement,” said Barkley.
England responded well and Michael Keane equalized just 13 minutes later.
The ‘new’ Barkley would then give Three Lions the lead in the 39th minute and added a third goal in 59’ minute.
Goals from Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling in the second half put the result beyond doubt.
England had a week before thrashed Czech Republic 5-0.
