Eagles Receive Presidential Order For Best Mundial Outing

Date:

The Super Eagles have received a presidential order to ensure they pull off the best outing at the World Cup for Nigeria, as the nation’s leadership believe making it to the second round is no longer enough.

This charge came on Wednesday from President Muhammadu Buhari’s media adviser, Femi Adesina, who reckons that African teams should not have low ambitions at Russia 2018 and assured that that funding will not be an issue for the Eagles.

Nigeria’s best outing at the Mundial has been in the round of 16 at USA ’94, France ’98 and Brazil 2014, but Adeshina declared that, after reaching that stage three times in five appearances, the Eagles must go further this time out.

Adeshina stressed: ”Nigeria should do well, do very well at the World Cup. You know our target used to be qualifying for the second round, then at a time the target of Africa was getting to the quarterfinal,.

”I think we should be more ambitious this time, let’s go as far as we can get and if we can win, why not, but let us not have low ambition.

”Funds should not be a problem as long as everything is put in place timeously, those who should make the request should make it in good time. If everything is done when it should be done, there should be no problem.”
