Dutch Police Investigating Drowning of Gallani in Amsterdam

Italian footballer, Gabriele Gallani passed away in Amsterdam while on vacation with friends.

Gallani, 24, who is captain of fifth-tier ASD Piccardo Traversetolo, fell into a canal on Friday evening and drowned. He was declared dead on Saturday morning.

 

According to rumors in Italy, the footballer had been in the Dutch city with a group of friends and was seen wandering at the rear in the Kloveniersburgwal neighborhood.

The player was then thought to have been in distress when his friend Luca Ugolotti reportedly saw him.

In a statement honoring him, Gallani’s club hailed his team-leading abilities.

At the University of Parma, while he was also playing football, Gallani studied engineering. He was preparing to defend his master’s thesis the following week and to begin an internship with Lamborghini.

The Dutch police are reviewing CCTV footage, and they have opened an inquiry. They are asking any witnesses to come forward with any information.
