Dessers on target, but Napoli trounce Cremonese

Cremonese welcomed League leaders, Napoli, to the Stadio Giovanni Zini but lost comprehensively to high-flying the Azzurri.

It was a business start to the encounter for Napoli and they were awarded a penalty after sending numerous waves of attacks.

Matteo Politano stepped up and duly converted the penalty to give Napoli the lead heading into half-time.

The second half was an entirely different story.

David Okereke was introduced at the start of the second half and two minutes after Cremonese’s lightning counter was rounded up by his compatriot Cyriel Dessers.

Dessers opened his Serie A goal account after nine games, to draw his side level just two minutes into the second half.

Napoli where the better team in this encounter and made their superiority count.

Luciano Spalletti was the orchestrator as all his 2nd half introductions scored, to bag all three points and establish Napoli’s performance and send them back on top of the Serie A.

Giovanni Simeone was on the receiving end of Marcos Rui’s cross to tuck home and make the score line 2:1 before two late strikes from Hirving Lozano and Mathias Olivera put the game beyond doubt for Cremonese and Napoli extended their winning streak to 8 games.

The current goalscoring form of Napoli must be a cause of worry for Victor Osimhen.

Since the Nigerian striker missed a penalty and got subbed off due to injury in the match against Liverpool in the UCL, Napoli have gone on to win 6 consecutive games defeating Rangers and Ajax in the process.
