The forward was unstoppable as he inspired his side’s 3-1 win, with a hand in all the goals for Genk. He netted a brace and provided the assist for another goal all in the opening Twenty-nine minutes inside the Cegeka Arena. Dessers’ first goal came in the 5th minute, then he turned provider for Mike Tresor (16′). But the visitors halved the deficit in the 24th minute when Denis Dragus slammed the ball high into the net from open play. In spite of the shift in momentum, Genk soon found their strides again and five minutes later their lead was restored. From the penalty spot, Cyriel Dessers hit the ball hard and with precision through the middle to open up the two-goal lead. Eventually, no further goals would be scored and Genk bounced back from the opening day defeat to Club Brugge. So far this season, the Nigerian Forward has taken his tally to 3 goals and an assist in two games – looking to pick up where he stopped last season.
