Cyriel Dessers failed to score in consecutive games for the first time since October, and he played the entire duration as Heracles lost at home 3-1 to FC Utrecht on Sunday.
Dessers, who was voted Dutch league player of the month twice, couldn’t save his side from going down.
Orestis Kiomourtzog put Heracles ahead with five minutes remaining in the first half, but Bart Ramselaar restored parity for the away side ten minutes after the resumption.
The home crowd were stunned when Gyrano Kerk put the visitors in front with eighteen minutes left on the clock, before Bart Ramselaar got his brace (91′) to seal all three points.
The defeat leaves Heracles in 9th position with 25 points from 15 matches.
