Cyriel Dessers looked sharp upfront for US Cremonese in Monday’s Serie A match against AS Roma, as the Forward gradually adapts to the very physical Italian football.

Not an unknown opponent, Dessers battled against a largely unchanged AS Roma team he faced in the final of the Europa Conference League four months ago.
He was shut out then and yet again on Monday at the Stadio Olimpico, but more than in his first encounter against Jose Mourinho’s side, the 28 year-old Forward showed was encouraging signs that he could be a good fit in the Serie A.
The Nigerian went close to scoring on a number of occasions in both the first and second halves.
A volley that crashed off the cross bar, with his back to goal beat both his marker and the Goalkeeper.
Subsequently, Dessers went close again with a one-time overhead volley that whizzed past the face of goal, from a cross just outside the box.
He also set up several goalscoring opportunities for his teammates including David Okereke, who scored in the first game and 3-2 defeat to Fiorentina.
Indeed Cremonese tried to contain their host and almost did but for a 65th minute goal from former Manchester United CB, Chris Smalling decided the contest.
It was a contrasting outcome for both teams, a second win for the Giallorossi, while on the other hand it’s now back to back defeats for the Serie A newcomers.
