Super Falcons’ coach, Thomas Dennerby has received some tactical tips from Super Eagles’ gaffer, Gernot Rohr, who paid the women’s national team a visit at their training base in Abuja.
Footballlive.ng gathered that Rohr, who is fresh from back-to-back wins against Seychelles and Egypt at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba stopped by at the Falcons’ ground to wish the team well ahead of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Rohr used the opportunity to chip in some words on technical boosts for the team and individual props for the players, as they aim to get a better result than Nigeria’s best ever quarter-final appearance at USA ’99.
Rohr then held one-on-one talks with Dennerby, who recently took the Falcons to respectable third place and seventh position outings at two invitational tournaments in China and Cyprus respectively.
The Swedish gaffer will aim to take the Falcons a step further, as the team, which has been at every edition of the Female Mundial since its inception in 1991, have always fallen out at the group stage.
The only exception to that first round routine was in 1999, but the team lost to Brazil via a golden goal in the quarter-finals, which Dennerby is hoping to replicate in France.
The Falcons are in Group A, along with Norway, South Korea and hosts, France, ahead of which he has gained some technical support from Rohr.
