Super Eagles defender Tyronne Ebuehi scored the only goal for Empoli in their 1-0 victory over relegation threatened Sampdoria at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.
It was Ebuehi’s first goal of the campaign and in his 9th appearance of the season.
Empoli have played draws in their previous two games, the first a 1-1 draw to Udinese where they surrendered the lead and the other a 2-2 draw way to Lazio, this time overturning a two goal deficit.
The victory over Sampdoria was the first of the year for Paolo Zanetti’s side and the third defeat in a row for Sampdoria, who are deep into the relegation waters.
Meanwhile the three points for Empoli is crucial as they pull further away from the relegation zone to 12th position.
