2018/19 NWPL runners up Nasarawa Amazons will miss this season’s playoff tournament and for the first time in three seasons will not be contending for the title, a miss Head Coach Christopher Danjuma says they’ll rue.
The team’s campaign came to screeching halt on Wednesday despite their final league game against holders Bayelsa Queens postponed due to bad weather.
Nasarawa Amazons had their fates sealed following Sunshine Queens’ 2-0 win Kaduna Queens, and went top of Group C, but Danjuma believes the damage was done long before then.
“Naturally you strategize , you set your goals and your priority. Sometimes it works for you and sometimes it doesn’t,” Danjuma told footballlive.ng
“This year we dropped 4 points at home and to qualify you don’t lose games at home. That’s where we lost it.
“We always want to win both the league title and Federation cup. Now we have lost the women Premier league but can still look forward to playing the Super cup where the Federation cup winner face-off with the league winner.”
