Conference League: Ekpai frustrates Awoniyi as Slavia Prague defeat 10-man Union Berlin


Taiwo Awoniyi couldn’t find his scoring boots on Thursday night as Union Berlin were beaten 3-1 away at Slavia Prague in the UEFA Conference League.

Awoniyi was on for 59 minutes but several chances fell to the Striker, but he was frustrated by the Slavia Prague defenders.
The hosts scored the opener, Alexander Bah fired home from the edge of the box in the 18th minute.
It went from bad to worse real quick for the visitors as they were reduced to 10 men after defender Paul Jaeckel was sent off for a second booking.
Despite the disadvantage, the Bundesliga side fought back and got an equalizer through Kevin Behrens from close-range in the 70th minute.
However, Slavia Prague turned the screw and were back in front in the 84th minute with another goal from a rebound and Jan Kuchta made no mistake to tuck it away.
Two minutes later the three points were in the bag as Michael Krmencik and Ivan Schranz combined for the latter to punish the German side.
Meanwhile, Ubong Ekpai was on for 90 minutes while Peter Olayinka was an unused substitute in the game.
