Chukwueze’s Submarines sink Real Madrid

Samuel Chukwueze led Villarreal to their first ever league double over Real Madrid, as they beat the current Spanish and European Champions 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid came into the game in good form, having scored 10 goals in their last two matches.

Karim Benzema’s hat-tricks in those games must have given them a lot of confidence, and the support cast of Marco Asensio and Vinícius Júnior, were also contributing to their attacking play.

However, Villarreal showed great strength and character to come from behind twice and ultimately win the match.

It’s also worth highlighting the impact of Samuel Chukwueze, who was the shining star for Villarreal in attack.

Real Madrid scored the first goal through an unfortunate Pau Torres own-goal, but Villarreal responded and it was a beautiful Samuel Chukwueze goal.

The Nigerian expertly dummied Nacho Fernandez, leaving the Spaniard in Row Z before beating Thibaut Courtois with a powerful drive.

Vinicius Jr scored to put Real Madrid back in the lead, but Villarreal replied again, this time through Jose Morales in the 70th minute.

Ten minutes later, Alex Baena sent a sumptuous cut back to the path of Samuel Chukwueze who kept is cool to score his second of the night and the winner.

Samuel Chukwueze now has 25 goal contribution this season for Villarreal.
