Former Super Eagles midfielder, Christian Obodo, has revealed the toughest opponents he played against.
The former Udinese man, in a chat with Ifeanyi Udeze on Brila FM’s “No Holds Barred”, said he played against the very best midfielders during his days.
Obodo said that at the time, the Serie A was about the best in the world, so it had the best players.
The midfielder, known for his dribbling ability, said Rui Costa and former areal Madrid and AC Milan midfield maestro, Clarence Seedorf was the toughest he faced in the course of his career.
He said the two legends made football difficult for him. He also gave honourable mentions to former Dutch player, Edgar Davis and Ghana legend, Stephen Appiah, who he described as a tough marker and even at one point in their many encounters, gave him a cut on his nose.
Obodu revealed that the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana fuelled their competitiveness in matches, which made them tough on each other when facing off.
Concluding the chat, he said it is a big disappointment for the Super Eagles not to pick a ticket to this year’s world cup in Qatar.
‘ The agony of missing out will hit different by the time the tournament starts.”
