Chelsea have won the 2021 UEFA Super Cup, defeating Villarreal 6-5 on penalties after the sides played 1-1 through regulation and extra-time on Wednesday at the Windsor Park, Belfast.

Chelsea, the UEFA Champions League winners, took the lead through Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech in the first half.
However, the Moroccan’s night ended early following a shoulder dislocation in the first half.
Chelsea didn’t really do much in attack afterwards and we’re equally lax at the back allowing Gerard Moreno level up the scores with time running out.
Towards the end of the game, with penalty shootouts looking more likely, the Blues manager Thomas Tuchel brought on Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for Senegal’s Eduardo Mendy, and it proved to be a tactful one.
Arrizabalaga proved to be the hero needed on the night as he made to saves in the shoot-out to clinch the cup.
Meanwhile, Villarreal’s Nigerian player Samuel Chukwueze was ruled out if the game with a hamstring.
