Chelsea FC have thrown their weight behind the striker, Tammy Abraham whose penalty miss cost his team the UEFA Super Cup last night in Istanbul.

Liverpool Goalkeeper Adrian saved Abraham’s spot kick to carry the day after they played out a 2-2 draw even after extra time.

On their website, they reflected on how the young striker had won a penalty for the blues to force the game into penalties.

“Tammy Abraham’s decisive spot-kick was saved, but it was the young striker who had helped us equalize in extra-time when he was brought down by Adrian for a penalty Jorginho rolled in.

“But make no mistake: this was a hugely impressive Chelsea performance that suggests Frank Lampard and his charges are firmly on the right path. Indeed, it could so easily have been the Blues returning from the Turkish capital with silverware.”

Abraham is still expected to get games under his belts as the season progresses, with Olivier Giroud who was on the scorers sheet last night his only established rival.
