Akwa United manager, Deji Ayeni has stressed that rather than vilifying the B Eagles who lost 2-0 to Ghana in the first-leg of the African Nations Championship, Nigerians should encourage them.
Ayeni explained that the result could have been different if the team was as prepared as their Ghanaian counterparts.
The Black Galaxies camped in Austria and played multiple friendlies ahead of the game on Sunday including an invitational tournament and it paid off.

With the qualification ticket for next year’s African Nations Championship at stake, the Black Galaxies are now favorites to go through.
However, the Akwa United boss also drew comparisons with the Super Eagles’ failed World Cup qualification bid against the Black Stars.
‘If the main national team couldn’t complete the task of qualifying for the world cup against Ghana, the same rival opposition, then less should be expected of the home based eagles,’ Ayeni told FL.
