Champions League: Football Prevails in Manchester City clash against stubborn Atletico Madrid

In a tight affair at the Etihad Stadium Manchester City continued their push for the elusive UEFA Champions League crown when they hosted a very disciplined Atletico Madrid side.

The pre-match build up was riddled with conversations over tactics and how the contrasting styles of the Managers Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone would impact the game.
True to the analysis aforehand, it was a tight affair which Man City obviously dictated.
Over the two halves, the hosts dominated possession greatly and also created many chances.
However, there was very little goal mouth action and Atletico themselves didn’t manage to get a chance at goal until the second stanza of the game.
Eventually, football would prevail and it came down to a moment of intelligence and grit as Kevin DeBruyne (70′) scored from a Phil Foden assist to break the deadlock.
It was all she wrote as both teams held out for the most plausible outcome from the first leg as they perhaps are saving the best for last in the return leg.
