CAFWCL: Sundowns Midfielder Morifi gives verdict on Nigerian Champions Bayelsa Queens

CAF Women Champions League defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns’ midfielder, Chuene Morifi admits that Bayelsa Queens, gave them a good run, when the sides clashed in the opening group game of the CAF Women’s Champions League on Monday.

The game ended 2-1 and victory for holders Mamelodi Sundowns means they kick off the title defence in solid form.

After the game, the midfielder revealed that the game was indeed tough for Sundowns, as the Nigerian league Champions have “really good players”.

The Prosperity Ladies, according to Chuene Morifi, admittedly, unsettled them early in the match, ‘We however settled down and were able to control how we weanted the the game to play out as soon as we scored.’

Lelona Daweti scored twice for Sundowns, while Mary-Magdalene Anjor halves th deficit, off an assist from the boots of Flourish Sabastine.

Bayelsa Queens will look to bounce back against TP Mazembe who beat Egyptian side Wadi Degla 1-0 in their opening game of the tournament.
