CAFWCL: Bayelsa Queens Breeze into the Semi-final

Bayelsa Queens put three goals past Egyptian side, Wadi Degla en route to reaching the semi finals of the CAF Women’s Champions League on Sunday night.

Juliet Sunday tucked in the opening goal after the goalkeeper made a mess of a shot, spilling it onto the part of the onrushing Bayelsa Queens star.

Falling behind after Eight minutes did not dampen the spirits of Wadi Degla and they kept it solid at the back for the rest of the half.

However, after the interval Bayelsa Queens returned with more vigor to kill off the game.

Mercy Itimi carried the team on her back with two perfectly executed goals in the second half and the NWPL champions marched on.

The Prosperity girls, led by coach Domo Okara ended the group stage in second place, winning back to back games after their opening day defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns.

Bayelsa Queens will next face FAR Rabat in the semi-final on November 9.
