The Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba has received positive feedback from CAF inspection officials, for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but noted that a few things still have to be put into place for it to be perfect for the tournament.

Nigeria and the Benin Republic put forward a joint bid for the hosting rights of the 2025 Cup of Nations, and officials from CAF visited to inspect the proposed match venues in Nigeria.

During the inspection on Sunday, Tonobok Okowa, the chairman of the Delta Sports Commission, made a commitment that the state will address the issues raised by the inspectors, as soon as possible.

Okowa stated that the stadium, “has been upgraded to satisfy any world standard in terms of hosting any athletic championship. The stadium held the National Sports Festival the previous year.

“The team from CAF left Asaba, and were satisfied with the facilities at the Stephen Keshi stadium. They inspected the main bowl, training facilities, hotels and other important facilities that will ensure the smooth running of the competition.

“They pointed a few things, which we will fix as soon as possible,” Okowa said.
