Kwara United are set to face FC Berkane in the first-leg, CAF Confederation cup preliminary round on Sunday at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

The winner of the two-legged tie will book a spot in the group stage and Kwara United head Coach Audu Azeez Mohammed believes the North African side aren’t favorites.

In a chat with FL Mohammed claims that his team is set on proving that FC Berkane is not invisible and that they will get the result to take them to the group stage.

“In football, you can’t say somebody is favorite before the game, it is until after that game before you can know who is taking the game.

“The game is two ways you have to get higher results in both games before you can say you have won the game, even if we win here we have to go and get a decent result over there in Morocco before we can say that we have qualified.

“The real thing is to qualify for the group stage and that is our target and that is what we want to do we know the opponent are defending champions, we know everything that is at stake, they are not invisible and we will try our best to see that they are not invisible, to see that we get the necessary results that will take us to the group stage.”

However, the Kwara United Coach also admits that lack of competitive game in the Country could pose a challenge for his team.

“The league is not on in Nigeria yet, but We’ve been training very hard and we’ve been playing a series of friendly matches although it will not be as good as when the league is on because the match will be more competitive, that is what we’ve got so we just have to rely on the preparation that we have.

“The training and the little friendly matches that we have and the mindset of the players and the character that we take into the match – because that is what we count on – and by God’s grace it is going to pay off.”
