CAF Announces 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Kick-off Date

The kick off date of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has been confirmed, Thursday, by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Ivory Coast will host the 34th edition of the Cup of Nations and will get the honor of playing the opening match.

On Thursday, CAF issued a brief statement confirming that the first game of the tournament will hold January 13, 2024.

 

 

Also, date for the final has been set for February 11; a Twenty-nine days long event.

 

The 60,012 capacity Alassane Quattara Stadium, the National stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan, has been designated as the grounds to mark the commencement of the competition.

According to government records, the Stadium’s construction cost is put at $257 million and it was opened in October 2020.

Six Stadiums in five Cities will host the 24 teams that will vie for honors.

Meanwhile, seven teams including the hosts, have so far qualified for the competition, but Nigeria needs one more victory in the qualifiers to seal a spot.
