Bordeaux keeps mum on Kalu’s health after winger collapsed during Ligue 1 game against Bordeaux

Neither Ligue 1 nor Bordeaux have given any update concerning 23 year-old Nigerian winger Samuel Kalu, who fainted and was substituted moments later during the league match at the Stade Velodrome against Marseille on Sunday.

Scenes of Kalu slumping to the floor had sent panic throughout the pitch, teammates and opponents aside rushing to aid the player before the Physiotherapists arrive the spot.
He was revived and continued into the 10th minute before Bordeaux manager Vladimir Petković pulled the player out.
The winger’s condition appeared stable as he walked off the turf to the ovation from the crowd, but there was no indication his health had not been compromised.
After the game, safe for a small mention, the Ligue 1 and in particular Bordeaux gave no clues as to what steps had been taken to get the young forward back to his old healthy self.
However, this isn’t the first time such an occurrence involving Kalu had happened. During Nigeria’s AFCON 2019 campaign, he was said to have collapsed during training and missed some substantial amount of game.
The official document which followed identified ‘sever dehydration’ as the remote cause of the Lightheadedness.
