Boniface impressive enough for a Super Eagles call up?

Victor Boniface isn’t a name quite familiar to football fans back in Nigeria, but the Striker is making one for himself in Europe this season.

On Thursday night, Boniface got the game winning goal in Union Saint-Gilloise’s 3-2 home victory against Malmo FF in the Europa League.

He joined the club mid-season from the Eliteserien side Bodø/Glimt, 21 appearances, 13 goals and 3 assists after.

The 21 year-old’s overall goals return has been impressive this season and could be a consideration for a NT call up.

He provides a good option for Super Eagles Coach, Jose Peseiro, with concerns over the fitness and long term injuries to his regulars.

Osimhen is a major doubt for the friendly this month and Umar Sadiq is also due for a long spell on the sidelines after a surgery for his ruptured ACL.

Taiwo Awoniyi hasn’t been consistent and also hasn’t had enough game time, but the likes of Cyriel Dessers have simply failed to find his form.

One bright spot for the selection ahead of Nigeria’s game against Algeria would be Terem Moffi.

Moffi has been in terrific form for Lorient so far and one player who could match him would be Boniface, for the latter’s game frequency and form this season.

It may be a bit early for the Union SG player’s invitation, but it wouldn’t come as a surprise if he got one soon.
