Nigerian striker Victor Boniface scored a brace for Royale Union SG against Westerlo in the Belgium Jupiler Pro League, but it was not enough as the home team eventually picked all three points, winning the contest 4-2.

The brace improved the League, goal tally for Boniface to 7, and has scored three goals in his last two games.

Union SG were favourites for this encounter as they had not lost a game against Westerlo since 2019, but the early exchanges saw the host score twice in the first 20 minutes to build a comfortable lead.

Union SG however rallied back, leading to Victor Boniface’s first goal of the night in the 40th minute to halve the deficit.

He then got an excellent equaliser in the 67th minute to put his team back in contention for at least a point in the encounter.

However, the visitors gave away a penalty in 73rd minute to hand Westerlo the lead once again, before the host wrapped up the result with a late goal in the 89th minute.
