The Ministry of Youth and Sports in Ghana have increased the Black Stars’ winning bonus to $15,000 ahead of their match against Tunisia in the round of 16 in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, footballlive.ng can report.
While President of NFF, Amaju Melvin Pinnick announced on Saturday evening, shortly after Super Eagles bundled Indomitable Lions out, that each player will receive $12,500, our source has authoritatively gathered that every player of Ghana will receive $15,000 as winning bonus if they reach the last eight.
The Normalisation Committee of the Ghana Football Association had earlier announced $10,000 as the Black Stars winning bonus at the tournament.
Black Stars players pocketed $30,000 each for reaching the knock-out stage of the 2019 AFCON after two draws and one win – they topped Group F.
The 50% increment is a sign of motivation to the players to triumph in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ghana last won the AFCON trophy in 1982 and have lost out in three finals; 1992, 2010 and 2015.
