Big Night for Boniface, Union SG Eliminates Union Berlin

Last time around Victor Boniface bagged a brace, in the UEFA Europa League round of 16 first-leg match in Germany, the encounter ended in a Six-goal thriller, both sides sharing the spoils.

But in the decider at the Lotto Park, Boniface was denied goals, but it didn’t stop him from creating chances and grabbing an assist as Royale Union St. Gilloise cruised to a comfortable 3-0 victory against 10-man Union Berlin.

The Nigerian delivered the ball for his side’s second goal, when Jean Lazare Amani double Unon SG’s lead in the 63rd minute after Teddy Teuma’s 18th minute opener.

Although they had a goal disallowed in the 89th minute, the hosts yet got a stoppage time goal, Loic Lapoussin (90+4′) sealed the victory.

Meanwhile, Janik Haberer was givn his marching orders after a second yellow in the 80th minute.

Royale Union SG will find out their quarter-final opponents, Friday.
