Real Madrid exerted sweet revenge on Chelsea knocking out the Champions 5-4 on aggregate in their UEFA Champions League quarter final battle.

Chelsea entered the second leg with a 3-1 deficit, but were 3-0 up in the 75th minute after goals from Mason Mount, Antonio Rudiger and Timo Werner.
The Blues also had a goal chalked off for handball by scorer Marcos Alonso, letting Real Madrid off the hook.
However, Los Blancos will eventually seize the game by the scruff and former Tottenham man Luka Modric was involved, setting up Rodrygo for a sweet finish to level on aggregate.
From that moment Real Madrid built their momentum as the game went into extra time.
Like it was in the first leg, Vinicius Jr. and Karim Benzema combined upfront to score the all important goal which sealed victory for Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid team.
Chelsea knew the odds were stacked against them and Manager Thomas Tuchel had expressed only hope for a miracle if his team were to completely overturn the first leg result and hold their own at the Santiago Bernabéu.
However, odds on favorite Real Madrid continue their march on to a likely 13th UCL crown.
They face the winner of the tie between Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.
Manchester City take a one goal advantage into the return leg on Wednesday April 13.
